How To Generate Interest

I have to say there are so many so called businesses out there that really do not generate true interest or money.  They make a lot of promises but don’t come through even to the people who really believe in the concept.  I am speaking from experience.  But, in my interest to do business on the internet, I learned you have to work at it – it doesn’t just happen no matter how much money you throw toward it.  That just makes someone else richer.

Starting this weekend, I am having a “Online Candle Party” but it is so much more than candles.  It is a way to generate more interest in my online and offline business that consists of a lot more than candles.  I have the best scented candles available but there is more to this business than candles. I have found people don’t realize all that there is.  So, I decided to have a full week of showing off my business and all the products by setting up the Online Party.  This will work for the people not able to come to a traditional home party or people that are impossible to connect with because of the daily grind.  Now, they can join the Party any time of the day or night.

I try to do what works for my customers and associates, not what is easiest for me.

In my posts, I have tried to convey how wonderful our gourmet candles are.  I have retail customers that buy from me and that helps with any overhead I have.

Last evening, I got a call from one of those customers that had purchased one of the new candles called “Fireside”.  This is one of the Signature Candles put into the line about a month ago.  She loved this candle fragrance, appearance and performance to much that she ordered two immediately and wants two every couple of weeks.   She said her husband  loves this fragrance as much as she does.  That’s always a good thing.

Responsibility – For Solving The Problem

I found it on a piece of paper, I don’t even know the source to give due credit. It has had me thinking ever since then……..

A noted research scientist likes to tell how he found his destiny at a very young age. As a small boy, he tried to get a container of milk from the refrigerator all by himself. He dropped it, and milk poured all over the floor.

His mother rushed into the kitchen, of course, but instead of scolding him, she decided to turn this minor disaster into anopportunity. “What a great mess!” she said. Since the damage had already been done, she encouraged her son to get on the floor and play in the puddles of milk. Then she moved on to the next step: responsibility for solving the problem. “Well, we’ve got to clean it up now,” she said. “What do you think would be the best way to do that?” He picked up the sponge, and they worked together to clean up the mess.

Then the mother looked to the future: “Let’s see if we can figure out a way for you to get a carton from the refrigerator without dropping it again.” She found an empty carton, filled it with water, and took it outside so they could experiment until the boy figured out a safe way to lift and carry it safely.

As and adult, the scientist credits his mother with teaching him not to be afraid of making mistakes. Isn’t that a better response than anger, punishment, blame or the host of other negative responses?

Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. LEARN from those mistakes and develop a plan of what not to do in the future. AND if you make the mistake again…so what? It’s only spilled milk! Wipe it up and try again! You WILL figure it out!

…What lessons did I glean from this story? Don’t cry over spilled milk. In fact, if you are NOT spilling milk then you aren’t doing anything to even possibly build your business. GO SPILL YOUR MILK!

Cosmetics and the Recession

When the economy tanks, what’s a woman to do? For some, including myself, selling makeup is the next step.

What’s the draw? Flexible schedules and the potential income, as usual. “I could go and work at a local supermarket and make $6.55 an hour,” says laid-off worker Beth Johnson, adding that she can make up to 10 times that much through selling quality makeup. Although she’s found another full-time job, she continues to spend about 10 hours per week selling makeup. That might not be enough to buy a house of her dreams, but a much-needed income boost isn’t a bad thing.

We all know the economy is in shambles and we have to supplement our income.  The trick is to supplement it by doing something you like to do.

I must say, selling cosmetics is a lot of fun and very profitable at the same time. Women and some men feel a lot more confident when they look good.  They don’t want a face full of makeup but they want to look good.

Cosmetics are recession-proof.  When you are happy with the way you look, nothing is going to stop you.
